VANCOUVER’S MOST EXPENSIVE CONDO LISTING IN HISTORY WAS MADE BEAUTIFUL AT THE HANDS OF INTERIOR DESIGNER KARIN BOHN—WHO WAS INSPIRED BY ITS JAW-DROPPING OCEAN AND MOUNTAIN VIEWS.
WHEN Karin Bohn received a call in 2014 from a contractor to renovate a four - bedroom, five bathroom condo at Three Harbour Green tower on Thurlow Street in Coal Harbour, it seemed like a straightforward project. “The client wanted us to change the wall- paper, change the floors,” she explains over coffee at Gastown’s Mink Chocolates.
Little did the designer, who leads a team of seven out of her Gastown-based design studio, House of Bohn, know, that the minor project in the luxury development would evolve into a two-and-a-half-year-long renovation which included gutting the plan and parts of the floor plan.
Even more astounding was the fact that post-renovation, the condo, which covers three floors including two rooftop terraces and boasts 360 degree views of the North Shore mountains on the East and West side, the ocean and Stanley Park, would be listed for sale at just under $60 million dollars—at the time the country’s priciest piece of real estate. “The client, who does real estate development in Beijing, had priced it for the Chinese market. If you were to buy (a condo) like this (there), that’s what you would expect to pay,” says Karin.
Originally built in 2012, the 2016 listing represented a 254 per cent increase from the $16.6 million price tag of its previous sale in 2014. (Since the $58.8 listing, which garnered its share of media buzz in 2016, the owners opted to take the home off the market and sell it privately.)

Vancouver’s sky-high real estate prices have soared to new heights – 33 floors up to be exact. A 16-room luxury penthouse has just been listed for $58,888,000 in the exclusive downtown Vancouver neighbourhood of Coal Harbour. If a spendthrift takes the bait, the pricey property would become the most expensive condominium in Canada.

The 8,010 square foot condo occupies the entire top two floors at the Three Harbour Green building (277 Thurlow St.), offering 4,840 square feet of living space and two swanky rooftop terraces, plus an additional balcony. All of that outdoor space will allow prospective buyers to enjoy a pretty spectacular ocean view; oh, and let’s not forget about the scenic mountain view either.

Founded in 2008, by Radu Soos, SOFO Kitchens, produces high-end residential custom cabinetry and millwork. The company made its start in Radu’s garage, and soon after, word got out about the quality of his work and the orders started pouring in. Before long, Radu rented his first commercial space. A year later, SOFO Kitchens was bursting at the seams. SOFO Kitchens is now in at its fourth location, a 12,000-square-foot facility with 1,000 square feet of showroom space, where Radu hopes to stay for at least the duration of their lease.

SOFO’s impressive growth is attributed to a talented team and commitment to having the best in technology. “Most of our people have been with the company since the beginning, and they bring decades of skill and craftsmanship to the table,” Monika, Radu’s wife and business partner explained. “Another contributor to our growth is the fact that we invest in cutting-edge technology and in staying on top of trends,” added Radu.

With services such as in-house estimates, drafting complex CAD drawings and 3D designs, and LIFETIME limited warranties, SOFO has earned a top spot among high-end cabinet manufacturers. They recently were awarded with Best Of Houzz 2016 Award for Customer Service which follows a Best of Houzz 2015 Award and a Best of Houzz 2014 Award. They also won four diamond awards at the Cabinet Makers Association Wood Diamond Awards in Las Vegas for Best Bathroom over $25,000, Best Closet over $25,000, and Best Overall European Kitchen.
